  Rosetta Gavin was the fifth daughter of Robert Gavin and Margaret Horn. She appears in the census records with her parents in Draper Township, Muskoka in 1891 and 1901. By 1911, she had married John "Jack" McCrea (ten years her senior) and was living in Thessalon Township, in Algoma, Northern Ontario. Jack and Rose had two children: Edward "Ted" and Norma. Jack's sister, Mary McCrea, was married to Rose's cousin, Robert, the son of William Gavin and Agnes Barr.
