They were led by Edward Jessup. They were usually stationed at Sorel or Verchères and provided garrisons for posts at Yamaska, Rivière-aux-Chiens, Île aux Noix, and Dutchman's Point (near Alburg, Vermont). The rangers were disbanded on December 24,1783. After the war, Jessup's Rangers were allotted townships number 6 (Edwardsburg), number 7 (Augusta), and part of number 8 (Elizabethtown), all on the St Lawrence, as well as No 2 (Ernestown), west of Cataraqui (Kingston). | ELLIOTT, David (I9865)

| 4282 | https://www.anamericanfamilyhistory.com/Dwinnell%20Associates/Lee%20Family.html From this website re Nelson Lee, son of Palmer: The Daily Times, Watertown, New York , December 21,1870 Death of a Noted Character Nelson Lee died at North Hammond on the morning of the 30th of November last. He was found very sick near Hammond Corners, where he alighted from the stage, by some good samaritan, who, passing that way, took him to the inn of M. G. Taylor. He having no money, the case was presented to Mr. Wm. Cuthbert, Overseer of the Poor, who did everything in his power to render the unfortunate as comfortable as possible during his illness, and until death summoned his spirit away. He was buried on Friday, December 2nd. ----------- from Three Years Among the Comanches: The Narrative of Nelson Lee by Nelson Lee I was born at Brownsville, near Watertown, Jefferson County, N. Y., in 1807. Parmer Lee, my father, was a farmer at that place, having always been engaged in agricultural pursuits, except a short period during the last war, when he joined the forces under Brown raised for the defence of the Frontier. Our family was originally from Catskill on the Hudson, the native town of my grandfather [Ephraim Lee], one of the soldiers of the Revolution, who participated in the battles of Saratoga and was present at the surrender of Burgoyne. During my minority I was remarkable for nothing I can now recall, save a most hardy constitution and athletic frame, and an intense longing to rove out into the world. In early youth I had resolved, as soon as released from paternal restraint, to pass the horizon that bounded my quiet home, and learn, as far as in my power, of all the lands that lay beyond. Indulging this propensity, my first adventure from home, on coming to man's estate, was a trip upon a raft from Sacket's Harbor on Lake Ontario, through the St. Lawrence to Quebec In the character of boatman and raftsman I remained on this River, more or less for several years, sometimes sailing among the Thousand Islands, at others descending the swift rapids, but nothing occurring in the meantime of sufficient interest to relate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | LEE, Palmer (I3565)

| 4290 | Hugh's 1st wife, Sarah Jane (Morrison) Morrison died in 1869, one day after delivering their daughter, Sarah. This daughter was raised for a time by her Aunt Jane and her husband, Thomas Rooney. This is according to a family history written by Glenn Morrison called 'The Morrisons of Farewell'. The 1871 Census shows Hughie newly married to 2nd wife, Ellen (married 1870) and Sarah is not with them. But by the 1881 Census she is back in this household. | MORRISON, Hugh (Little Hughie) (I2563)

| 4291 | Hugh's wife Sarah died at age 40 in 1864. He then married Eleanor Williams who was working as a governess in Guelph and was also from Ireland. They had 1 child, girl, Eliza. Eleanor lists parents as James Williams and Eleanor Golden in Marriage Register; witnesses were Mr & Mrs George Allan of Rothsay. In 1875, Little Hughie built the present house of brick, the first on the line -------------------------------------------- ?? I found a baptism record for Eleanor Williams 1 Apr 1832 in Riverstown, but it is RC and the father is listed as Nicholas Willams, mother Bridget O'Neil. Also one for Eliza Williams 6 Jul 1829 - same parents & parish. --------------------------------------------- | WILLIAMS, Eleanor (Ellen) (I2588)

| 4299 | I do not know for sure if Sarah is the sister of my 2x great grandfather, William Allen - but: a) Birth - she is born at the right time in Sligo - William was born in 1800, Sarah c1806; b) Name - William's mother's name was Sarah, so likely that he would have a sister with that name. | ALLEN, Sarah (I2384)
