| 3953 | Excerpt from Obituary - Ken was a champion bridge player (Diamond Life Master) and a dedicated and innovative vegetable gardener. He edited and published Vegetable Garden Research, and wrote 'Sweet Potatoes' for the Home Garden. He also wrote two bridge mystery novels, Deadly Endplay and Shades of Grey; his advancing illness prevented completion of the planned trilogy. A Queen's graduate in Engineering, and holding a Master's Degree in English from Western, Ken was a true Renaissance man. His creativity and inventiveness were expressed through pottery, stained glass, art and literature. Ken was an independent thinker and the kindest of men, qualities that don't often go together. There will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated by the family | ALLAN, Kenneth William (I136)

| 3963 | Family history passed down - In the year 1690, James McCrea and 6 sons went from Scotland to Ireland with the army of William the Conqueror to fight in the Battle of the Boyne. According to records, 5 of the sons returned to Scotland. The one who remained in Ireland is our ancestor. A descendant named Charles (perhaps grandson?) was born c1750. He married Peggy Johnston. Their son John was an ordained Presbyterian minister. John married a Welsh girl, Elizabeth Evans and they had 3 children - Matilda, John and Margaret. Their son John and his wife had Charles, John, and others. One of these [I believe to be Thomas]married and had 5 children - Mary, William (1843-1916), Richard, Katherine and Elizabeth. William (1843-1916) - my great grandfather - came to Canada in 1867 | MCCREA, Charles (I36955)
