| 3740 | Death Notice The Province, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - 21 May 1947, Wed • Page 4 - Alberni Sawmill Superintendent Laid to Rest - Flag at the Bloedel, Stewart and Welch sawmill here, flew at half mast Tuesday, for Charles Allen, 61, architect and construction superintendent, who died suddenly last Saturday. Funeral services were conducted by the Masonic Lodge with Rev. Glen Stevenson officiating. Prominent mill officials and many out of town friends and relatives were in attendance. Mr. Allen was a native of Dauphin, Man., and years ago followed the harvesting and building trades westerly in Canada and the United States. In British Columbia he entered the building trades, specializing in installation of machinery for various types of mills. He was superintendent of the Thurston Flavelle mill in the Fraser Valley for many years and was associated with the construction of the Nootka Lumber Mill at Port Tahsis, and the Bloedel, Stewart and Welch mill in Port Alberni, also a shingle mill at Mission, B.C.
